Stephen Geri: Family Life
Stephen Geri is very proud of his family. He is the husband to a wonderful woman named Karen, the father to his daughter Ginger, and Grandfather to his three grandchildren. Stephen and Karen are an amazing compliment to one another. They each share different passions that help fuel the same goal. Both are dedicated to their business DEBS; Diversified Employee Benefit Services. Each of them are involved in their church St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in San Antonio. The first time Stephen met Karen he knew she was a special person. From the moment they started spending time together Karen accepted and developed a friendship with his daughter Ginger. Ginger believes that Karen and her dad are perfect for one another. Karen has not only been a friend to Ginger, but more importantly a parent figure. Once their grandchildren were born, Karen and Stephen gracefully stepped into the role of loving Grandparents. Karen is fondly called Grammy and Stephen is called Pops. All three Grandchildren agree that they have amazing Grandparents. You can find Grammy and Pops at many of the children’s activities even though they do not live locally. Stephen and Karen will travel for hours in order to see their Grandson’s football game, band competition, or be involved in their Granddaughter’s Girl Scout cookie sale.
Karen and Stephen believe in spending as much time as possible with their family. This also includes their DEBS family. It is not uncommon to find them celebrating birthdays and life events with the staff at DEBS. On occasion, Stephen will close the office early and take the DEBS family to the movies. Mr. Geri realizes that work and play must complement one another. Stephen supports his family not only financially, but spiritually and emotionally. He knows as the head of the family, each member looks up to him for guidance. Mr. Geri takes that role seriously. His inspiration for being a supportive husband, father and grandfather stems from his own beloved grandfather, Stephen Hendry. Stephen prays that his Grandson’s see what it takes to lead a family and will follow in his footsteps one day.
Stephen Geri in the Community
Community is defined as a social group of any size whose members reside in a specific locality, share government, and often have a common cultural and historical heritage. It is very important to Mr. Geri that he supports his local community and charity organizations. Stephen realizes that he has been blessed in so many ways and giving back to his community is apart of his character.
Mr. Geri is always looking for ways to improve the quality of life for those who are less fortunate. This includes buying bikes at Christmas for under privileged children at the HEB food and toy drive in San Antonio, sponsoring a bike rider for Multiple Sclerosis, adding extra money to his own electric bill in order to ensure an elderly person will have electricity through the REAP program, giving cash donations to the American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association, and American Cancer Society.
Every year he buys 1,000 boxes of Girl Scout cookies and distributes them to the local nursing home with his granddaughter so she will learn the importance of supporting the community. Stephen believes that if he sets this example others in the community will follow. Mr. Geri is also involved in the ACTS retreats through his church. ACTS is a spiritual event that not only refuels his desire to grow as a person, but also reconfirms his belief to share his many blessings with others.
